The formal typology of a U block created a secure back and a private sunken garden that the client desired. The sunken garden allows sunlight to go deeper into the open basement and makes the outdoor space feel more spacious and enhances the focus on landscape. The bronze operable screen filters the light into the first floor and maintains privacy from the neighbours. Interior spaces are visually connected across all levels to maintain social connection.
